Ash Wednesday

Lent 2021 will be a different kind of experience for all of us. The restrictions on movement and personal freedom which are ongoing has made life difficult.

Lent might just be what we need to help us make sense of the whole experience and affords us an opportunity for some quiet prayer and reflection.

Ash Wednesday is Wednesday next the 18th Feb and we will have two online Masses on that day, one at 10:00 am and one at 7:30 pm.

This year we will be doing the Blessed ashes differently.

We are asking each family or individual joining in on the webcam to have ready a saucer of some soil from the garden or ashes from the grate. During the Mass we will pray a prayer of blessing together over these ashes and then invite people to administer the ashes on the foreheads of those present with the words ‘Repent and believe the Good News of the Gospel’.

The ashes are simply a statement of intent, a commitment to enter into the spirit of Lent and use it for personal renewal.
