Sunday November 27th 2022

open dayThe last two years of Covid greatly disrupted parish life and we are seeking to reengage with all of our parishioners. A parish is more than a church building. As Pope Francis says, 'a parish is a family of families'. Here in St Mary`s we strive to be a living, vibrant parish that welcomes and nurtures all members of our parish community. Part of our Mission Statement says that this community is "lived out in the love and service of one another, especially those in need".

There are many different volunteer groups and ministries in St Mary`s and each and every one of them is in need of new members. Many volunteers have been serving in these groups for a long time, are happy to continue to do so but also recognise the need for new members to come forward and join these groups. New people bring new experiences, a fresh perspective and most importantly their own unique gifts and we are asking all parishioners to consider volunteering to enhance the life of the parish. We are appealing especially to our teenagers and younger people to come forward.

If you look at the parish booklet and on the parish website, you will see the various groups, too many to be all named, but they include, Ministers of the Eucharist and of the Word, Choirs, Hospitality team, Altar servers, St Vincent de Paul, Justice and Peace, Divine Mercy, Bible Study Group, Funeral team, Coffee Dock, Baptismal team, Altar linen and Flowers etc, and they are all looking for new members. They need you.

After the two Masses on Sunday November 27th, you will find these groups in the parish centre, eager to give you further information on their work and they would be delighted to welcome you to their group. Members of the Parish Pastoral Council will be there also.

Please call over and consider sharing your talents, skills and ideas for the future development of St Mary`s.
